The Canon EOS 90D, a mid-range DSLR, replaces the 3.5-year-old 80D. It fits between the EOS 77D Mark II and the EOS 7D Mark II. The new sensor is higher resolution and has excellent Raw image quality. It also offers 4K video capture and competitive live view AF (with eyes detect). The Canon EOS 80D features a old but proven 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor, 45-point all cross-type autofocus system. The camera features canon’s DIGIC 6 processor which was the latest at the time of launch in 2016.
The 80D’s Dual-pixel CMOS AF allows for smooth and fast autofocus when recording live view. You can compose photos on either an ‘Intelligent” optical viewfinder, or a flip-out and-rotate 3” touchscreen LCD. The 80D is capable of recording 1080/60p video, and has sockets for both microphones and headphones. Wi-Fi and NFC support are also available on the 80D.
The Canon EOS 90D digital SLR is a mid-range APS-C digital camera with a 32.5MP CMOS sensor. Canon’s DIGIC 8 processor is used. The updated metering sensor allows for face detection through the viewfinder. The Dual Pixel AF system by Canon allows for live view and video, as well as subject tracking and fast focusing.
It features a large optical viewfinder with a decent size and articulating touchscreen LCD. The camera can capture bursts of 10 fps through its viewfinder, and 7 fps live view. Both have continuous autofocus. The 90D can be used in all weather conditions, and has a microphone, headphone, and USB-C ports. However, it is only capable of working at USB 2.0 speeds. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are two options for connectivity.
Well its clear from the overview that the canon 90d is certainly better than the canon80d. The question is How much better ? and is it worth the extra money. Canon90d is priced considerably higher than current canon80d price. We think its worth the upgrade and you should spend the extra 300$ and buy the canon 90d.

According to a recent test by FredMiranda user cgarcia, the new Canon EOS 90D with its 32.5MP APS-C CMOS sensor has better dynamic range when compared to its predecessor canon EOS 80D.
