In photography and videography , a color cast is an unwanted color tint or bias that affects the overall appearance of an image. It can cause certain colors to be over- or under-represented in the final image. This is even more distracting in HDR images and videos.
How to correct color cast in your HDR images ?
There are many ways to correct color cast in your images or videos during post processing.
1. White balance correction
White balance correction is the most common method used to correct the color cast introduced due to incorrect setting while taking pictures. Most photo editing tools such as photoshop and lightroom have auto white balance feature as well which can be used to correct the white balance in one click.
You can also use the correct white balance setting in post processing if you shoot using RAW. One can also select a perfect white or neutral point in image to set the white balance.
2. Temp and Tint
Temperature and Tint sliders are very easy way to correct the color cast in an image. here you can change the temperature and rotate the hue as well giving much better results.
3. Custom Curves
Curves are also useful in correcting the color cast in an image. Here you can also use the individual RGB curves to remove color cast in a particular luminance range.
4. Dehaze tool
Lightroom has a specific tool to remove haze from photographs. You can adjust the strength of the correction done to make sure that it does not overcorrect the image.
How to correct color cast in your HDR Videos ?
Removing color cast in Da Vinci Resolve is very easy and can be achieved by number of ways. This is usually part of the color correction process.
1. Printer lights
This is perhaps the easiest way to remove color cast in videos using Da Vinci resolve. You can activate printer light controls/hotkeys from the color menu and then use the appropriate keyboard keys to add or remove colors.
You can remove red , green , cyan , magenta , yellow colors from your images easily with this tool.
2. White balance ( Auto / Manual / Temp+ Tint)
There are different ways to correct white balance in Da Vinci Resolve. Selecting the neutral part in image , auto correction are two main options. Adjusting the temperature and tint is also another way to remove color cast from your video.
3. Custom Curves
